Thornton Industries moving ahead with addition

Permits also issued for two new residences, one home remodeling

A permit for construction of an addition to Thornton Industries was issued May 19 by Morris Building and Zoning Officer Bill Cheshareck.

Only a few permits for new projects have been issued in recent months, but permits for improvement projects have been fairly numerous.

In May, the city's Development Review Committee approved the 23,800-square-foot addition for Thornton Industries, to be constructed on the west side of the existing building, facing Bungalow Road.

Mike Thornton paid $1,200 for the permit to construction the addition, valued at $500,000.

Other fees were $300 each for the plumbing and building inspection fees.

Katie and Steve Klinker, 115 Waverly St., paid $126 for a permit May 15 to build a new $170,000 house at that location. The previous house was damaged by fire. Other fees were $50 each for the plumbing and building inspection fees and $250 for the sewer bond.

Price Builders of Indian Trail Road, Verona, paid $339 for a permit May 19 to build a $315,000 house at 1001 Partridge Lane in Lakewood, seventh addition.

Others fees were $750 each for water and sewer tap-ons, $150 for the plumbing inspection fee, $977.43 for the school site donation, $559.25 for the park site donation, $250 for the sewer bond and $1,750 for the sidewalk bond.

Ellie Anderson, 1119 Wauponsee St., paid $25 for a permit May 19 to extensively remodel the house at 1122 Wauponsee St. She also paid the $70 plumbing and building inspection fees.

Additions and garages

Delores Robinson, 989 Partridge Lane, paid $25 for a permit May 19 for a $20,000 room addition.

Mike Englert, 1237 Kiersted, paid $25 for a permit May 20 to construct a detached garage.

Jason Hemmersbach,760 S. Edgewater, paid $25 for a permit May 19 to build a $7,000 detached garage.

Jack Jirgl, 618 E. Main, paid $25 for a permit May 15 to construct an $8,000 attached garage.

Fernando Villarreal, 528 E. Jackson St., paid $15 for a permit May 4 to add a $1,000 porch.

The following paid $15 for permits to install storage buildings.

Luis Alegria, 212-214 Adam St., received a permit May 20 to install a $2,000 storage building.

James Benson, Benson Road, a permit May 20 to install a $2,000 storage building at 1346 Division St.

Vaughn Turner, 1316 Heritage, a permit May 18 for a $1,600 storage building.

Brent Harmon, 816 Thomas Drive, a permit May 12 for a $2,500 storage building.

Duane Heren, 2435 Indian Grass Road, a permit for a $6,000 storage building on May 5.

Kristy Shipton, 1011 Edgewood, an April 30 permit for an $800 storage building.

Gary Rockis, 1802 N. Division St., an April 30 permit for a $1,200 storage building.

Jennifer Lee, 418 E. Illinois Avenue, an April 1 permit for a $500 storage building.

P & D Signs of Peru paid $150 for a permit May 15 to install a 400 square-foot sign for Ritchie Brothers, Ritchie Road.
