Semi-trailer runs into truck

Local man taken to hospital following accident on U.S. 6

A PICKUP truck driver was taken to Morris Hospital after his vehicle was struck in the rear by a semi-truck at U.S. 6 and Gun Club Road about 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11.

Nicolas Sanchez, 30, 6 Main, Minooka, complained of back pain and was taken to Morris Hospital by Kurtz Ambulance.

Bradley Bonnell, 43, Troy Grove, the driver of the semi-truck, was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was given a March 3 court date.

Deputy Chad Hrechko reported Sanchez was westbound on U.S. 6 when he stopped and attempted to turn to go south on Gun Club Road.

Bonnell was also westbound and the semi-tractor struck the rear of the GMC Sonoma driven by Sanchez. The impact pushed the pickup across the eastbound lane into the corner of the intersection.

Minooka Ambulance also responded and Bonnell refused treatment.

Sanchez was issued a ticketed for not having proof of insurance. He was given a March 4 court date.

Deputy Hrechko reported he was later contacted by Allen Mumm, 59, who said he was eastbound on U.S. 6 at the time of the accident and debris from the collision struck his windshield, cracking it in several places.
