The second annual Morris Elementary School District 54 PTO craft show Saturday, March 20, will have more than 40 vendors selling everything from baked goods to garden accessories.
The craft show goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the big gym at White Oak Elementary School, 2001 Dupont Ave. in Morris.
Admission is $1. All money raised from admission and vendor fees goes to the District 54 PTO.
“There hasn’t been a spring craft show in the area in a long time, so we thought we would offer one for the crafters,” said Judy Huddleston, co-president of the PTO.
The PTO uses the money raised to purchase supplies for the district’s teachers, such as “Weekly Reader” magazines for both White Oak and Shabbona and books for the students to read in the classroom, Huddleston said.
“Our PTO is incredibly supportive of our teachers and helps them to go above and beyond our mission of inspiring excellence in every child every day,” Superintendent Teri Shaw said.
Available at the craft show will be dip mixes, handmade jewelry, garden goose clothes, American Doll clothes, garden and yard accessories, purses, home décor and much more, Huddleston said.
Concessions and raffle tickets for prizes donated by the vendors also will be available. Raffle tickets will be $1 a ticket.
“We wanted to do something where the parents didn’t have to sell something (to raise money),” Huddleston said.
