3 French Hens begin days of Christmas

Holiday Market this Friday, Saturday at fairgrounds

The nip in the air, the smell of fresh cut evergreens, and the sounds of Christmas music remind us it is time, once again, for the 3 French Hens Holiday Market!

The one-of-a-kind show will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.

The Friday night preview party costs $10, and guests are treated to a decadent dessert buffet prepared by Lettie Mae’s Tea Room. This is a great opportunity to meet the artisans and vendors, sample products, and shop early.

Saturdays admission is $5.00, with Lettie Mae’s Tea Room offering a bistro setting with lunch and their delicious baked goods available for purchase.

Held north of Morris on Illinois 47, at the Grundy County Fairgrounds, the holiday market will be held indoors, with the market growing to 70 vendors. Summertime favorites, such as Stamper Cheese, Amish baked goods, Monkey Business sock monkeys, and even produce will be offered.

Jewelry designers Jane Davis and Sue Webb will be sharing holiday gift ideas, and local artist Laurie Ragan will be available to sign her prints and paintings.

New this year are blogger favorites Jennifer Rizzo, who was recently featured in the home decor book, “Romantic Prairie Style”, and Polly Hood, editor and publisher of “Porch” magazine.

Santa artist, Wanda Gallaway, will be have plenty of one-of-a-kind St. Nicks on hand — each hand crafted for the Hens Market. In keeping with its “all things home made, home grown, handcrafted, antique or one of a kind,” there will be scrimshaw, hand-felted knits, shabby, vintage and antique goods, and fresh-cut Christmas trees, wreaths and greens.

The 3 French Hens have already spoken with the weatherman, and have been assured good weather will be on hand for the show dates. Just in case, the Grundy County Fairgrounds is a perfect location, with an abundance of close parking for everyone.

Conveniently located close to Morris, the Hens invite shoppers to visit downtown Morris and take advantage of the towns numerous boutiques, restaurants and pubs.
