Katherine O’Connor

JOLIET, Ill. — Mrs. Katherine O’Connor, 90, passed away Thursday Feb. 23, 2012, at Provena Villa Franciscan, where she resided for 18 years.

Born March 11, 1921n in Morris, Katherine was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Warren) Cosgrove. She resided in Joliet for more than 60 years.

Katherine attended St. Francis Academy and the College of St. Francis. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist.

She was a member of the St. Raymond’s Mother’s Club, the Alter and Rosary Society and St. Francis Academy Alumni Association. She was President of the SFA Alumni Association from 1964-1966. She volunteered for many organizations in the community.

Survivors include her daughters, Anne (Clif) Campbell of Camarillo, Calif., and Mary (John) Burns of Bloomington, Ill.; six grandchildren, John (Rebecca) Burns, Ryan Burns, Kevin (Jennifer) Burns, Dylan Campbell, Erin (Sean) Johnson and Heather Campbell; and three great-grandchildren, Patrick, Riley and Ava Burns.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Leo J. O’Connor, and their son, William.

The Burns/Campbell families are most grateful to Dr. Raymond Orenic, Dr. Nour Kabbani and the many employees, aides and nursing staff at the Villa for their love, friendship and outstanding care given to Katherine during her time at the Villa.

Funeral will be at held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, Feb. 27, at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Provena Villa Franciscan, 210 Springfield Ave., Joliet, Ill., 60435, or Joliet Catholic Academy, 1200 N. Larkin Ave., Joliet, Ill., 60435.
