Dean Marketti, a lifelong resident of Coal City, is the new chief information officer at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers.

With many years of experience on both the provider side and payer side of health care, Marketti is thrilled to be back on the provider side, leading Morris Hospital’s information technology strategies and initiatives at the senior management level.

“I have always found the provider side of health care very rewarding,” Marketti said. “We get to be part of technology, science and teamwork all integrated together under one roof in a place where life and death occurs every day. What other industry has all of that? There’s no comparison.”

According to Mark Steadham, president and CEO of Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers, the time was right for Morris Hospital to add a chief information officer.

“After discussion with the board, we came to the conclusion that adding a CIO was a necessary and critical position for the near-term and future success of our organization,” Steadham said. “Information technology plays an increasingly important role in our operations, including the delivery of patient care. Over the past three consecutive years, our single largest capital investment has been toward our information technology infrastructure, systems, upgrades and equipment.”

“Dean has a proven record of accomplishment in finance, information technology and executive management, and we are very pleased to have added his expertise to our team,” Steadham said.

Marketti comes most recently from Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he was a senior director, managing a staff of project managers in the areas of information technology, marketing, member services, accounting, human resources and actuarial, as well as the team that was responsible for the development and analysis of the information technology operations and project budget.

He also had a long tenure with Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Franciscan Sisters Healthcare Corporation and Provena Health, where he advanced to System Vice President/CIO with full operating and strategic accountability for the information services division.

Marketti holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration, both from Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.

He and his wife, Debbie, and their three adult children all attended Coal City public schools, where Dean serves as president of the Unit #1 Educational Foundation. He has also served on the Unit #1 School Board.

“I am thrilled to be back in a great, mission driven organization like Morris Hospital,” Marketti added. “It feels good.”
