Worker hospitalized after hair caught in machine

(MCT) — A woman suffered a head injury when her hair was pulled into a corn bottling machine while working at a plant in southwest suburban Bedford Park this morning.

Bedford Park Asst. Fire Chief Jeff Clohessy said his department was called to the company, 6400 S. Archer Rd., about 8:30 a.m. because a worker's hair was stuck in a machine, causing a head injury.

She was freed from the machine rescued and taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with "very minor" injuries, said Clohessy. "She's going to be fine," Clohessy said.

The incident happened at ACH Foods, according to a spokeswoman who said they bottle corn oil at the plant. She did not have further information about how the injury occurred and said they remain open for business.

Aaron Hoffman, a spokesman for Corn Products, International, said his company owns the property ACH is located on, but only leases that part of the facility to ACH.
