Cheryl K. Dolan

Mrs. Cheryl K. “Cheri” Dolan, age 66, of Morris, Ill., passed away peacefully Friday, April 13, 2012, at home following a 20-year battle with cancer.

Born April 27, 1945, in Streator, Ill., Cheryl was the daughter of J. Melvin and Rosella R. Kanne. She graduated from MVK High School in Mazon in 1963, and attended Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa.

Following college, she was employed by Black and Black, Attorneys of Morris. She was also employed for 32 years at Willareth Clinic, Morris, retiring in December 2006.

On June 5, 1965, she married Thomas M. Dolan at St. Patrick’s Church, Dwight. He survives along with two sons, Troy Michael and Todd Mathew, both of Morris, and one granddaughter, Meghan Elizabeth Dolan of Naperville.

Cheryl is also survived by her mother, Rosella Kanne; a sister, Patricia (Ray) Dennison; and a brother, Jack (Dianne) Kanne, all of Morton; as well as her mother-in-law, LaVelle Dolan; sister-in-law, Peggy (Dennis) Finch of Verona; 13 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and great-nephews; and her best friend for many years, Rose Livingston of Coal City, who stood by her for her entire 20-year battle with cancer.

Preceding her in death was Cheryl’s father, J. Melvin Kanne, in 1979; and her father-in-law, Charles Raymond Dolan, in 1976.

Cheryl loved decorating, design, baking, and working in her yard with her flowers. She also loved spending time with friends and family, and special time with her granddaughter, who was the joy of her life.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Morris.

Family will receive friends at Immaculate Conception Church on Wednesday, April 18, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Morris.
