Marcella L. Thorsen

PLAINFIELD, Ill. — Mrs. Marcella L. “Babe” Thorsen, 86, of Plainfield, Ill., passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 2012, at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Saratoga Cemetery in Morris, Ill. Pastor Galen Sollie of Peace Lutheran Church in Plainfield will officiate. There will be no visitation.

Born July 22, 1925, in Morris, she was the daughter of Edward and Ruby (Johnson) Terry. She graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1943.

Marcella married Howard Thorsen on June 30, 1945, in Springfield, Ill. For most of their married life they farmed in Nettle Creek Township, Grundy County.  She moved to Plainfield in 1979.

Mrs. Thorsen was employed as a secretary at the Morris Paper Mill and later sold real estate.

She enjoyed watching football and was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.

Surviving are one aunt, Frances McNellis of Morris; one uncle, Alvin Johnson of Seneca; special friend Josephine Coop of Minooka; and several cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Howard, on March 21, 1978; and two brothers, Donald and Dwayne Terry.

Memorials may be given to the Peace Lutheran Church of Plainfield.
