Edward G. Zelinko Sr.

COAL CITY, Ill. — Mr. Edward G. Zelinko Sr., 91, of Coal City, Ill., passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012, at Walnut Grove Village.

Born on Oct. 6, 1920, in Nokomis, Ill., to the late George and Anna Zelinko, he was employed for 12 years at Allen Bottling Company and was a 46-year member of The Labors Local 75.

A member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, Mr. Zelinko enjoyed carpentry work, feeding the squirrels, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Laurine Zelinko, whom he married on June 29, 1947, and  still to this day the called each other “Lover;” three children, Edward Zelinko Jr., James (Linda) Zelinko, and John (Kathy) Zelinko; eight grandchildren, Timothy Zelinko, Jamie Zelinko Hughes, Jill Zelinko, Jimmy Joe (Jasmin) Zelinko, Candie (Matt) McCants, Lori (Chris) Cavera, Beth (fiancé Tim ) Zelinko and Chad (fiancee Jenny) Winnicki; a special nephew and niece, Don "Puggy" and Carol Vilt; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Francis Vilt and Gladys Brown. 

Funeral Services will be from Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, to The Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial, with Father Robert Noesen officiating. Interment will follow in Braceville Gardner Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, At Ferrari Funeral Services at the corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive in Coal City.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Joe Zelinko, Timothy Zelinko, Don "Puggy" Vilt, Mathew McCants, Richard Zelinko and Chad Winnicki.

Memorial contributions in Edward’s name may be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Ill. 60431, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
