WOODRIDGE, Ill. — A Coal City man with ties to Exelon's Dresden Generating Station was arrested in Woodridge after police said he carjacked a woman in a Kohl's parking lot.

At about 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, according to a Woodridge Police Department press release, officers responded to Kohl's, located at 1001 W. 75th St., where an aggravated carjacking was reported.

An armed suspect, later identified as Michael Buhrman, 31, reportedly approached and pointed a handgun at a young woman who was seated inside a parked 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, ordered her out of the car at gunpoint and drove away.

A witness followed the suspect and gave police information on the direction the man was traveling. Officers stopped and arrested Buhrman without incident. They found a loaded .45-caliber handgun, and he was still wearing a Halloween mask to conceal his identity.

Kate Andris, management analyst for the police department, said Buhrman's motivation for committing the carjacking remains under investigation.

Burhman was charged with aggravated carjacking with a firearm. According to DuPage County Circuit Court records, he posted $20,000 bond and was released from custody.

Andris said Buhrman told officers he works for Exelon. On a LinkedIn profile, Buhrman identifies himself as a licensed senior reactor operator at the Dresden Generating Station in Morris.

In a statement, Dresden Station Site Communications Manager Bob Osgood said Buhrman is currently off of work.

"We are aware of the police investigation regarding one of our employees," the statement said. "We are following all of Exelon’s procedures, policies and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines with respect to the investigation."
