Michael Anthony Delloro

Mr. Michael Anthony "Mike" Delloro, 79, of Morris, Ill., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at his home.

Born Oct. 2, 1932, in West Haverstraw, N.Y., Mike was a son of the late Michael and Mary Rose Zarriello-Delloro. He was raised and educated in New York, and graduated from Pratt Institute in New York City with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

On Sept. 3, 1955, Mike married Dolores "Dee" Thomas in Plymouth, Pa., and she survives.

It was in 1953 that Mike began his career as a chemical engineer with DuPont, and his job moved him and his family from South Jersey to Northern Minnesota, Ottawa, Ill., Hagerstown, Md., Birmingham, Ala., and North Jersey before his retirement in 1987. In 1988, Mike and Dee then moved to Morris, where they have made their home for the past 24 years.

After moving to Morris, Mike went back to work, taking on the position of plant manager with Explosive Technologies International (ETI) in Seneca, Ill., and North Bay, Ontario, Canada. He retired from LaRoche in December of 1997.

Mike loved to golf and was a member of Morris Country Club. He also enjoyed wood working, spending time in his woodshop, and vegetable gardening. He was s devoted husband and father and will be remembered for his great pride in his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Dee, of Morris; son Michael of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Annette (James) Vanderwiel of Cary, Ill.; two grandchildren, Michael A. (fiancée Amanda Paige Seay) Delloro of Durant, Okla., and Suzanne Vanderwiel of DeKalb, Ill.; one sister, Rose Ladden of Connecticut; and one sister-in-law, Elaine M. Thomas of New Jersey.

Per the wishes of the family, cremation rites have been accorded.
