To the Editor,
On Memorial Day, we honored the people we have loved and lost.
The cemeteries are decorated well — my parents had been decorated with a beautiful saddle on their stone.
Someone decided that it would look nice on a different stone.
Every year, my sisters and I decorate our parent’s grave with a beautiful saddle that we purchase at Mann’s Greenhouse. They are always very striking and we take it off in the fall.
My husband has to secure the saddle with stainless wire that is attached around the tombstone and the saddle is secured in three places. It cannot blow away. Whoever took it, took the wire as well.
The wire was high enough on the stone that the lawnmowers would not have cut the wire.
It saddens my heart that someone would steal or vandalize our act of love for our parents.
I will never understand why someone would be so mean.
Maybe next year the saddle will not be to their liking so they can steal someone else’s. (I would not wish that on anyone.)
The only thing to do is pray for the people that did this as their souls are lacking in love.
