I.C.S. teachers honored for service milestones

Six Immaculate Conception School teachers were recently honored for their years of service as Catholic school teachers in the Diocese of Joliet. Awards were presented to the teachers at the school’s honors awards assembly that was held on May 14.

Mrs. Janelle Aldrich and Mrs. Kristen Hemmersbach were awarded certificates from the Catholic Schools Office for 10 years of service as teachers in the Diocese of Joliet. Mrs. Hemmersbach has served as the first grade teacher at the school for the past 10 years. Mrs. Aldrich has served as sixth grade homeroom teacher and has taught science to students in fifth through eight grades.

Mrs. Theresa Hudson was presented a certificate honoring her for 15 years of service in the Diocese. During those years, Mrs. Hudson has taught third and fourth grades as well as library. She currently serves as the school’s librarian.

Mr. Joe Corsello was honored with a certificate for serving as the school’s art teacher for the past 20 years. He joined the I.C.S. faculty following his retirement from Morris Community High School, where he taught for 33 years.

Mrs. Diane Sprole was honored for 20 years of service. She founded the I.C.S. Preschool in 1992. She previously was the director of the Morris Methodist Preschool and taught at MCHS. At the beginning of the 2011-12 school year, Mrs. Sprole announced that she would retire at the conclusion of the school year.

Mrs. Carol Robinson was honored for 40 years of service teaching kindergarten at I.C.S. She founded the I.C.S. kindergarten program in 1972 and has continued to serve the kindergarten students of I.C.S. since that time. Mrs. Robinson also taught in public schools and in a private kindergarten. She also taught other classes at I.C.S. before becoming the kindergarten teacher.

A reception to honor and thank Mrs. Sprole and Mrs. Robinson for their years of service was held on May 20. Many former students and other friends attended the reception.

Also recognized at the honors assembly was Mrs. Erin Dransfeldt for being named the Rotary Teacher of the Year at I.C.S. and Mrs. Janine Petric for her 30 years of service at the school. Mrs. Petric taught at St. Mary Immaculate School in Plainfield before joining the I.C.S. faculty in 1982.
