SHOREWOOD—The Kiwanis Club of Shorewood is once again hosting the annual Crossroads Festival Beautiful Baby Contest, held in conjunction with the annual Shorewood Crossroads Festival Aug. 3 to 5, which is presented by the Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce.
Co-organizer Becki Hackett said the contest is open to children who will be younger than 4 on Aug. 1. There is a $10 entry fee per child, but it drops to $5 for each additional child. Checks should be made payable to Kiwanis Club of Shorewood.
Entry forms are available at Shorewood Village Hall, Conrad Co., Shorewood-Troy Public Library or online at www.crossroadsfest.com. All entries must be dropped of before 1 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Conrad Co. Vacuum & Janitorial Supply, 700 W. Jefferson St., Shorewood.
To enter, bring a 4-inch-by-6-inch photo and completed entry form. Write the child’s full name, date of birth, the parent’s name, and daytime contact number on the back of the photo. Photos must be current. They will be disqualified if they are the wrong size or missing required information.
There can be only one entry per child and only one child in the photo. The photo does not have to be taken by a professional photographer. Photos will not be returned and will become the property of the sponsor. The baby/child must be clothed in the photo and on day of the judging.
Photos will be categorized by the age of the child. There will be five finalists in each of six age categories, for a total of 30 finalists. Preliminary judging will be by photo only. Finalists will be notified by phone before or no later than July 25. Only finalists will be notified.
The 30 finalists will come to the Shorewood Crossroads Festival main event tent at 11 a.m. Aug. 4 on the festival grounds at Four Seasons Park for the final judging and drawing. All 30 finalists will be in a random drawing for a $500 savings bond and other prizes will be awarded.
The event sponsor is Conrad Co. Vacuum & Janitorial Supply. The baby contest is organized by Mark Kay Cosmetics (Hackett and Linda Slabaugh). For information call Den at (815) 744-5692.
