CHANNAHON — Area law enforcement are on the lookout for a semi-trailer driver who allegedly stole another man's keys after a dispute in the parking lot of a Channahon gas station.

Lt. Mark Fischer of the Channahon Police Department described the incident, which took place after 1 p.m. in the BP and McDonald's parking lot in the 24000 block of W. Eames St., as a disturbance.

"It was a road rage incident, but not on the road," he said.

Fischer said the trouble started when a semi-trailer and a landscaping truck were vying for a parking spot.

The driver of the landscaping truck ended up taking the contested space and went into the McDonald's. Meanwhile, the semi-trailer driver allegedly stole the keys from the vehicle, returned to his truck and began to leave when a man from the landscaping truck saw what was happening and exited the restaurant.

He next reportedly hitched a ride onto the back of the semi-trailer and attempted to open the back doors. He was on the truck until it reached the Interstate 55 ramp when he fell off. The semi-trailer continued traveling southbound.

Fischer said the man was treated on-scene for minor injuries but refused to be transported to a hospital.

Local law enforcement were unable to recover the man's keys and the Illinois State Police were put on alert for the semi-trailer, which was described as a white tractor and a white trailer with the name Cronos on it.

The injured man was unable to provide a license plate.
