Charges leveled in fatal motorcycle accident

Henderson charged with aggravated DUI in crash that killed Oswald

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP — A Palos Park man now faces multiple charges stemming from a multi-car crash that killed a Minooka motorcyclist and injured several others.

According to Illinois State Police records, Andrew Henderson, 24, has now been charged with failure to reduce speed and aggravated DUI from the crash, which took place at about 2:40 p.m. July 14 in Plainfield Township.

The crash took place on westbound U.S. 126, east of County Line Road, when Henderson, who was westbound in a Dodge Durango, reportedly rear-ended a Nissan Altima driven by Daniel Demartino, 30, of Plainfield. Demartino was stopped, waiting to turn left onto County Line Road.

The impact forced Demartino into the eastbound lane, where he struck Ronald Oswald, 57, of Minooka, who was traveling on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Henderson was transported to Bolingbrook Adventist Hospital with minor injuries. Demartino and his three passengers, including two young children, were taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Oswald was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead.
