LuAnn Patricia Geiss

BRAIDWOOD, Ill. — Mrs. LuAnn Patricia Geiss, 55, of Braidwood, Ill., and formerly of Coal City, Ill., and Wilmington, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Morris Hospital.

Born Oct. 31, 1956, in Manteno, Ill., LuAnn was a daughter of the late Lewellyn and Dorothy Ann Schmidt-Leopold. She was raised and educated in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1974.

LuAnn will be remembered for her love of playing cards, horse racing, traveling and, especially, shopping.

Survivors include her son, Andrew Geiss of Godley, Ill.; her boyfriend of seven years, Michael Kaiser of Braidwood; three brothers, Dan (Julie) Leopold of Moline, Ill., Bill (Kelly) Leopold of Coal City, and Gary Leopold of Joliet, Ill.; two sisters, Lori Altiery of Wilmington, Ill., and Sandy (Mark) Lotzer of Rockford, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as special friends Shirley and Debbie.

LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lester Leopold; an infant sister, Jacquelyn Leopold; maternal grandparents George and Agatha Schmidt; and paternal grandparents William and Sophrinia Leopold.

Visitation and video tribute will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 28, at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East KahlerRoad, Wilmington. Graveside services will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington,  with Deacon Don Dyer officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dan Leopold, Bill Leopold, Andrew Geiss, Michael Kaiser, Chris Altiery, Michael Leopold and Jacob Leopold.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in LuAnn’s memory to her family for their distribution.
