JOLIET, Ill. – The University of St. Francis Department of Music and Performing Arts will present “An Evening with Papa Haydn and Friends” on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Local musicians Carol lei Breckenridge and Michael Herrick will present a dramatic performance based on the life and music of composer Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809).
The program will entertain and inform the audience about some of the revolutionary changes in society and music during the lifetime of Haydn (played by Herrick) and his friend and pianist, Maria von Genzinger (played by Breckenridge).
In period costume, the duo will demonstrate keyboard instruments from Haydn’s time including the harpsichord, clavichord, and fortepiano.
The performance will take place in the Sexton Auditorium at the university’s main campus in Joliet — 500 Wilcox Street. Parking will be available in the lot at Wilcox and Douglas streets and guests should enter the building through the Moser Performing Arts Center entrance.
