ESSEX, Ill. — South Wilmington Sportsman’s Club will be the scene of lots of family-oriented activities and excitement as it hosts the second annual Turkey Shoot for the Troops on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at the Club’s Trap Range, 24628 County Line Road, Essex, Ill.

From youth to seniors, all shotgun shooters are invited and welcome.

Action will get under way at 9 a.m. and run non-stop until dusk. At a $1 entry fee, it is a day to take aim while supporting brave military men and women, serving thousands of miles from home for the upcoming holidays.

The proceeds from this event will benefit Operation MOMS Cookies for the shipment costs of care packages overseas, as they send their 12th annual Christmas shipment, supporting hundreds of Illinois service members currently deployed.

With $6 shoots, splatter boards, new Army issue military items including backpacks, sub-zero sleeping bags and MRE’s, cash prizes and gift basket raffles there will be plenty of action all day long.

Shooters will have a chance to win dozens of generously donated prizes along with cash. The Freedom Grill is again donating their time cooking up food all day long, free to participants, sponsored by Freakster’s Roadhouse of Wilmington.
