(MCT) — Michael M. Mullen, co-founder and vice chairman of CenterPoint Properties, will serve as Illinois chair of the newly formed Tri State Alliance for Regional Development, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce announced this week.

The nascent organization, which will have Indiana and Wisconsin chairs as well, will push for increased inter-state cooperation on projects that have the potential to boost the regional economy. It will use the recent study by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development as its blueprint. The chamber commissioned that study.

"Engaging public, private, and academic leaders from Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin to support and execute this comprehensive strategy is essential to ensure that the insightful recommendations in the OECD Review don't end with their publication," Mullen said.

At CenterPoint, Mullen developed major air freight facilities at O'Hare, negotiated a co-investment agreement with LaSalle Investment Management and it's client CalPERS to acquire and develop industrial real projects in the Midwest and has led the redevelopment of the "Joliet Arsenal" into an intermodal-based logistics park.

He also negotiated the sale of CenterPoint Properties to CalPERS for $3.46 Billion in 2006.
