Norma Lee Corsello

Mrs. Norma Lee Corsello, 75, of Morris, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Oct. 3, 2012, at her home with her loving husband and family by her side.

Born Oct. 14, 1936 at the home of her parents in Ridge Farm, Ill., Norma was the daughter of Frank C. and Gertrude (Ellis) Fisher. She was the fourth of five children. She was raised and educated in rural Vermilion County, Ill., and graduated from Armstrong High School with the class of 1954.

Norma graduated from Brokaw School of Nursing in Bloomington, Ill., in 1958. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1959.

While attending Wesleyan, she met the love of her life, Joseph L. Corsello on a blind date. They were married Nov. 28, 1959, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Penfield, Ill. Together, they raised three children in Morris.

Norma’s nursing career included OB at the Morris Hospital, teaching at the Grundy Area Vocation Center as the first health occupations instructor and finally as a home health nurse for Quality Home Health.

She enjoyed reading, quilting and baking. She was a charter member of the Pieces of the Heart Quilt Guild, active in Friends of the  Morris Area Public Library and MOMS Cookies. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include is her loving husband of more than 52 years, Joseph, and their three children; Holly (Jack) Howard and Trudy (Kim) DesLauriers of Morris and Carter (Jackie) Corsello of Bangkok, Thailand; five grandchildren, John (Anna) Howard, Joseph Howard, Marc and Jackie DesLauriers and Luke Corsello; one sister, Marty (Harold) Edwards; and one brother, Carl (Audrey) Fisher.

She was preceded by sister, Marianne Bridgeland and her brother, Robert Fisher.

Mrs. Corsello will lie in state on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church, 516 E. Jackson St., Morris. The family welcomes friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Edward J. Howe, CR, will officiate.

Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Serving as her pallbearers will be John and  Joe Howard, Marc and Jackie DesLauriers, Luke Corsello, Casie Miller, Andrew and Kendal Behrens.

Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts in Norma’s memory directed to Immaculate Conception School, MOMS Cookies or Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice.
