SHOREWOOD — A health professional will present a program about cold and flu awareness at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at The Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.

Flu season can begin as early as October, and last as late as May. For this reason, October or November is the best time to get vaccinated.

Symptoms of the flu may include fever (usually high), headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose and muscle aches.

The program is open to the public and admission is free. Call Shelly Goggins at (815) 609-0669 or visit http://www.timbersofshorewood.com for more information or to register.
