County offers fall e-waste collection

Cardinal Recycling will also assist Oct. 20 in collecting white goods

Grundy County will host its fall e-waste/White Goods collection event Saturday, Oct. 20.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1800 N. Ashley Road in Morris at the Environtech Landfill.This event is open to both residents and businesses.

Rain or shine, this worthwhile event will take place, as volunteers will be on hand to assist in transferring electronics from resident’s vehicles.

To date, the county has collected  119,086 pounds of electronics from these events throughout the county.  With the holidays right around the corner, the fall event proves to be useful for people who are looking to properly dispose of outdated, broken, or damaged electronics before purchasing new.  The following items will be accepted at the event:

Acceptable Electronics: Televisions, computers, monitors, printers, printer cartridges, laptops and laptop accessories, hard drives, power cables, nnetworking equipment, fax machines, photocopiers, cell phones, CD players, DVD players, digital games, UPSs, VCRs, MP3s and PSPs. 

Cardinal Recycling will also be on hand to assist with the white good collection.

Acceptable White Goods: Refrigerators/freezers, ranges/ovens/cooktops, washers/dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, trash compactors, small hand-held appliances.

Cardinal Recycling is located here in Morris and serves the county by providing a large variety of recycling. 

Note that residents bringing scrap items for proper reuse will not receive any type of reimbursement for materials brought to the collection.
