CHANNAHON — Mrs. Helen L. Phillips, 90, of Channahon, passed away Monday night, Oct. 7, 2012. at Evenglow Inn in Pontiac, Ill.
Born May 17, 1922, in Wilmington, Ill., Helen was a daughter of the late George and Christine (Johnson) Dare. She was raised and educated in Wilmington, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1940.
On Jan. 4, 1941, Helen married Marvin "Jack" Phillip, who preceded her in death in December 1994.
Helen's greatest joy was her family.
Survivors include her six children, Jack (Carla) Phillips of Rockford, Ill., Robert (Kathy) Phillips of Channahon, Nancy (Dennis) Jennings of Coal City, Kenneth Phillips of Braceville, Ill., Donald (Carol) Phillips of Channahon and Diane (Ed) Anderson of Woodlawn; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, George Dare of Carbon Hill.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents; and three sisters, Emily Marek, Christine Primm and Charlotte Welsh.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois 113) in Coal City and from 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Tom Logsdon will officiate.
Burial will follow at Sample Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Helen's memory to Vitas Hospice or Alzheimer's Association.
