YORKVILLE, Ill. —The public is invited to celebrate the grand opening of Meadowhawk Lodge from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Meadowhawk Lodge, located at Hoover Forest Preserve, 11285 Fox Road in Yorkville, has recently been completely renovated.
The 5,000-square-foot lodge has numerous environmentally-friendly features, including utilizing solar and wind power for electricity production, a geothermal system for heating and cooling, and a permeable paver parking lot and rain gardens for infiltration of stormwater.
Meadowhawk will be used in a variety of ways. Meetings, reunions, shower, and gatherings of all kinds will be a perfect fit for the peaceful surrounding. Groups using the bunkhouses and campsites at Hoover FP will find the building the ideal location for group meals and activities. The building has a large meeting space, kitchen, fireplace and an outdoor patio area.
Meadowhawk Lodge is the last in a number of recent capital projects at Hoover Forest Preserve that have put the shine back on the former scout camp.
