Gene D. Dunning

COAL CITY — Mr. Gene D. Dunning, 76, of Coal City, formerly of Carrier Mills, Ill., passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill.

Born Feb. 27, 1936, in Mitchellville, Ill., Gene was the son of the late Henry and Lettie (Dunn) Dunning.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Gene retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in Joliet, Ill., following 30 years of employment.

Gene was a member of the Rod and Gun Club in Morris.

Survivors include three sons, Dennis Dunning and Phillip Dunning, both of Sheboygan, Wis., and James (Janice) Dunning of Morris; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Isabel Berrong of Gardner and Carol (Orville) Stergil of Omaha, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie (Wilinks), whom he married April 24, 1956, in Carrier Mills, Ill.; and three brothers, Donald Dunning, Darrel Dunning and Randall Dunning.

Local visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel.

Visitation will also be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, Ill.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Palastine Church in Stonefort, Ill.

Interment will be at Palastine Cemetery in Stonefort, Ill.
