Harold J. Bell

Mr. Harold J. Bell, 82, of Morris, Ill., passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, Nov. 3, 2012, in Salem Village In Joliet, Ill.

Born Dec. 3, 1929, in Morris, he was a son of  James W. and Margaret O’Bert Bell. He received his education in the Morris schools.

Harold proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in West Germany.

He married Donna L. Osmanson on Aug. 16, 1958, in the First Baptist Church in Morris.

He was employed with the city of Morris, Goose Lake Corporation, and with Alcoa Aluminum in AuxSable Township for over 12 years, retiring in 1992. He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, along with spending time visiting with his many friends and family members, especially his grandson, Nick.

Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church and of John Martin Steele Post #6049 V.F.W.  in Morris.

Surviving are his son, Steve, and wife, Lori, and his grandson Nick Bell, all of Morris; four sisters, Ide Dedinski of Seminole, Fla.; Bobbie (Rudy) Cotter of Princeton, Ill.; Ruth (Chuck) Partridge of New Orleans, La., and Nadine Kingman of Morris.; one Brother, Ken (Caroline) Bell of Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, on March 4, 2005; and one brother, William Bell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris, with the Rev. Steve Larson from the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment with full military honors conducted by the Morris Color Guard will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts in Harold’s memory directed to Operation St. Nick.
