ROUNDUP: Hoffman finishes 81st at state meet

PEORIA — Lane Hoffman of Gardner-South Wimington finished 81st, with a time of 16:17, as an individual at the Class 1A Boys Cross Country State Final Meet at Detweiller Park.

"Lane ran a strong race today. His time was a personal best," GSW coach Larry Lane said. "We are proud of his effort, not only today but all season."

BRADLEY — Morris was second, with 293 points, of 4 teams Saturday.

Top-5 finishers from Morris were Britt Crawford in the 100 back (second; 1:08.17) and the 200 IM (fourth; 2:29.44), Morgan Abraham in the 100 fly (third; 1:16.67), Myckala Tobolsky in the 200 free (third; 2:23.02) and the 500 free (third; 6:35.55), Jana Berryman, Crawford, Abraham and Tobolsky in the 200 free relay (fourth; 2:02.71), Makenzi Clausen, Sandra Segura, Miranda Starks and Molly Fruland in the 400 free relay (fourth; 5:03.97), Crawford, Jadeah Spindler, Abraham and Tobolsky in the 200 medley relay (fifth; 2:16.06), Harmony Alford, Spindler, Emily Walker and Berryman in the 400 free relay (fifth; 5:05.41) and Berryman in the 50 free (fifth; 32.14).

FLOSSMOOR — Mary Wolverton placed 13th with 250.1 points and Alex Schauer was 25th with 173.05 Saturday for Morris.

Joliet West Tournament

JOLIET — Minooka's eighth-grade boys went 1-1 this weekend. The Indians won 48-23 over Richland behind 12 points from Torren Thomas and 11 from Jaylen Jones. They lost 42-30 despite 17 Jones points.
