Teresa Ann Carey McNiff

NORMAL, Ill. — Mrs. Teresa Ann “Tess” Carey McNiff, 87, of Normal, Ill., died at 9:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.

Born July 21, 1925, in Morris, Teresa was the daughter of William Sylvester and Elizabeth Todd Carey. She married William Joseph “Bill” McNiff on Jan. 10, 1948, in Joliet Ill.. He preceded her in death.

Tess’ entire life was dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was an avid Redbird fan, as well as a passionate card and bingo player. She enjoyed annual trips to Las Vegas and Arizona in addition to frequent shopping excursions with her daughters.

She was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal.

Survivors include 13 children, William McNiff of Joliet, Ill., Dick (Jo Elaine) McNiff of Bloomington, Ill., Jack (Dori) McNiff of Bloomington, Mary (Phil) Brunner of Joliet, Maureen (Douglas) Zimmerman of Noblesville, Ind., Michele (Ken) Schmidt of Bloomington, Kathy (Doug) Clemens of Bloomington, Nancy Platt of Normal, Toni (Dan) Hany of Normal, Kelly Spencer of Normal, Tammy Harris of Bloomington, Michael (Kimberly Alred) McNiff of Normal and Jimmy (Jill) McNiff of Bloomington; a daughter-in-law, Kathy McNiff of Normal; 30 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a special eldest daughter, Sue (Jim) Moore of Joliet; and special granddaughter, Heather (Chris) Scott, Hudson.

She was preceded in death by a son, Pat McNiff; three brothers, Richard “Abe” Carey, William Carey and Paul Carey; and five sisters, Rita Gourley, Bette Zalar Dempsey, Agnes Carey, Mary Carey and Margaret Carey.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal Monsignor Eric S. Powell will officiate.

Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Normal.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epiphany Catholic School.
