“If you want to convince children of the power of books, don’t tell them stories are good. Tell them a good story.” —  Roger Sutton

Each year, Dis. 54 librarian Mrs. Marnie Garcia hosts a family reading night for White Oak Elementary School students.

This year’s annual family reading night will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012,at the White Oak Elementary School library.

The theme of this magical event is Bedtime Stories. Participants are invited to come decked out in PJs. They should be ready to listen to some wonderful bedtime stories, create a fun family craft and win some awesome prizes.

Family reading is not only great for fun nights like this, but when done on a regular basis, it provides a vital time for children to become expert readers. Creating family reading time is easier than you may think and encourages families to reconnect and have fun at the same time.
