POLICE: Team en route to Morris for tournament

OTTAWA -- Two members of the La Salle-Peru High School girls basketball team were injured Saturday in a bus accident while en route to Morris for a tournament game.

The injured girls, along with the driver of the bus, were transported to OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa for treatment. No report on their condition was available Sunday morning.

According to an La Salle County Sheriff's Office press release, emergency crews responded to Interstate 80, in the area of milepost 93 in rural Ottawa, for a reported accident at 9:43 a.m. Saturday. For unknown reasons, the bus carrying the team left the roadway and went into a farm field on the south side of the highway.

The accident is under investigation by the La Salle County Sheriff's Office.
