BRIEFS: Essex Lions serving breakfast on Sunday

ESSEX — The monthly Essex Lions Pancake Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 25.

This will be a breakfast with Santa Claus and craft vendors will be on hand.

The menu includes pancakes, french toast, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, eggs any way you like, toast, orange juice, milk and coffee.

The cost is $6.00 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and under.

The Essex Lions Club is at 217 Parls St. in Essex.

GCHD offers help with Medicare enrollment

The Grundy County Health Department would like to inform the public that Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 is open enrollment to compare, enroll, or to switch Medicare D plans. This is especially important for those who lost their IL Cares Rx benefits on July 1, 2012.

IL Cares Rx worked with four different Medicare D plans, of which three will carry a deductible beginning on Jan. 1, 2013. The maximum deductible for the year of 2013 is $325.

The Grundy County Health Department Senior Programs division will assist you in choosing the right Medicare D plan for you. To schedule an appointment please call (815) 941-6811.
4-H workshop offers candy making lessons

From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 15, the Grundy County 4-H Federation will hold a holiday candy making workshop for anyone who wants to attend.

The workshop will be in the basement of the University of Illinois Extension office, 4004 N Division St., Morris, Registration is limited to the first 20 who sign up. The cost is $3.
