(MCT) — NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The encouraging signs started shortly before Halloween, when John Danks told the Tribune he had started playing catch -- less than three months after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder.
Danks appears to be making more progress, as general manager Rick Hahn revealed Monday that Danks has stayed on track to be ready by opening day.
Trainer Herm Schneider visited Danks last week to monitor his progress with his throwing program. Danks has stretched out his throwing sessions while following a schedule mapped out by pitching coach Don Cooper and Schneider that leads up to spring training.
"He maintains a path to be ready opening day (April 1)," Hahn said.
Danks, 27, was limited to nine starts before undergoing surgery on Aug. 6 to repair a capsular tear and debris in his rotator cuff.
