Gary James Stump Jr.

Mr. Gary James “Stumpy” Stump Jr., 40, of Morris, Ill., and formerly Richland Hills, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at his home.

Born July 22, 1972, in Cleveland, Ohio, Gary is a son of Karen M. (Kirk) Peterson of Morris and Gary J. Stump Sr. of Enterprise, Ala. He was raised and educated in Richland Hills and attended Joliet Junior College.

Gary was a great history buff, who showed special interest in anthropology and ancient history. He had a love of computers and music, which included being an online radio D.J., as well as a video gaming chat room monitor. Gary enjoyed watching tennis and was a great Cleveland Browns fan.

Survivors include his parents Karen (Dan) Peterson of Morris and Gary J. Stump Sr. of Enterprise, Ala.; one daughter, Kristin Stump of Morris; four brothers, Michael Stump of Dothan, Ala., Chris Stump of Daleville, Ala., and Thomas Peterson and Cory Peterson, both of Morris; and grandmothers Betty Kirk of Malone, N.Y., and Mary Alice Peterson of Morris; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Alma Stump; grandfathers Leal Kirk and Thomas E. Peterson; and one uncle, Al Kirk.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial is being planned for a later date. Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmstead, Ohio.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Gary’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Morris, 200 East Jackson Street, Morris, Illinois 60450.
