To the Editor:
As the fourth season of the 3 French Hens French Country Market comes to a close, we would like to thank the city of Morris for another fabulous year! CanalPort Park is the perfect backdrop for an open-air market, and shoppers love strolling along the banks of the historic I & M Canal.
Thanks to Mayor Kopczick, city council members, and the powers that be for the support given us as we have grown from 30 vendors, to upwards of 100!
A big thank you to the residents and business owners along W. Illinois Avenue, for sharing your charming neighborhood with throngs of people once a month — we know it can get busy on Market days. Thanks als to Cal Hammond, Jewel Buttry, and Ayers Electric — our “go to guys” whenever we need anything from an extra key to a helping hand! We could not do the market without you!
And to the Department of Public Works... a huge thank tou for always having CanalPort mowed and maintained for the market!
Thanks to Patrick Graziano and the staff at the Morris Daily Herald for the great press coverage you have given our market. We are fortunate to have a community newspaper that promotes local events, big and small.
We appreciate the support shown from within our community, for without customers it would not be a success. We love watching shoppers arrive at 8 a.m., only to see them hours later still wandering through the vendor booths. It is a great place to catch up with old friends, family, and neighbors. Many tell us they never miss it, and they are at the market from start to finish!
We would be remiss if we did not thank Morris retailers and business owners for making shoppers and vendors alike feel welcome throughout the day! We know we have a charming downtown, and we love sharing it with neighbors from near and far.
Thank you to the wonderful vendors for joining us every month, and bringing something special to sell. While many of our vendors are from our area, some travel from as far as Wisconsin, southern Illinois, and Indiana. It takes a lot of work on their behalf to make the French Market so unique, and they have been instrumental in it becoming a local favorite!
We are looking forward to the 2013 French Country Market season, with Markets held the second Saturday, May through October, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you would like more information, including vendor inquiries, please contact the 3 French Hens at (815)941-0752 or visit us at www.3frenchensmarket.blogspot.com, or on our Facebook page.
Wishing you all a wonderful Holiday season and a Happy New Year.
