OTTAWA, Ill. — Mr. Gordon Brue, 80, of rural Ottawa, Ill., died Wednesday night, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec., 15, in the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with the Rev. Tim Johnson, pastor of Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.
Mr. Brue was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Nettle Creek Township in Grundy County, Ill., to Ole and Anna (Olson) Brue. He married Elizabeth Hostetler Stone on July 12, 1974, in Ottawa.
In 1995, Gordon retired from Commonwealth Edison La Salle Nuclear Station. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Judy (Gary) Patten of Ottawa; three step grandchildren, Mary Shehorn, Tina (Joe) Kannel, and Matthew Patten; 5 step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol (Larry) Baker of Batavia, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, on Feb. 4, 1998; three sisters, Marvel Hatteberg, Irene Thorson, and Thelma Thorson; and four brothers, Conrad, Reuben A., Orville, and Marion Brue.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Patton, Richard and Ed Hatteberg, and Chuck, David, and Terald Brue.
