Edward W. Klein

PONTIAC, Ill. — Mr. Edward W. Klein, 76, of Pontiac, Ill., died at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at his residence in Pontiac.

Born on April 6, 1936 in Chicago, Ed was the son of George and Edna (Kaldem) Klein. He was raised in Gardner, Ill. He attended Gardner High School. He and his sister lived in the historic street car that is on display in Gardner.

Edward married Anita Reed in Pontiac, Ill., on April 12, 1997. She survives in Pontiac.

He was a production worker for Caterpillar in Joliet, Ill., until retirement.

Ed enjoyed collecting antique model cars and working on cars. He also liked to spend his time to repair and tinker with miscellaneous projects around the house.

Survivors include son, Kerry (Sharon) Klein of East Peoria, Ill.; daughter, Kim Klein of Fort Collins, Colo.; sister, Faith Bekker of Morris; two step-children, Danita (Ken) Lewis of Pontiac, Ill., and Brian Swanberg of Pontiac, Ill.; four grandchildren, Ethan, Jackie (Jason) Poteet, Justin and Jamie (Martin) Ludi; six step-grandchildren, Nathan, Alyssa, Jacob, Josh, Kaden and Kylee; one great-grandchild, Grace; and two nephews, Bill and Bob Bekker.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac.
Funeral service will be at noon Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at the funeral home. Pastor Mary Kay Hensen will officiate.

Burial will be at Southside Cemetery in Pontiac, Ill.
