Doris E. Shelton

SENECA, Ill. — Mrs. Doris E. Shelton, 79, of Seneca, Ill., passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at her home.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home, 1009 E. Bluff St., Marseilles, Ill. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carolyn Lukasick of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Born Jan. 24, 1933, in Marseilles to Guyer and Ione (Nelson) Thompson, she married Thomas Shelton of Marseilles in 1953. He preceded her in death in October 2012.

Mrs. Shelton was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Seneca. Doris enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and being with her church friends. She was also a former leader of the Miller Township 4-H club.

Suriving are one daughter, Ruth Ann (Robert) Alford of Houston, Texas; one son, Rodney (Regina) Shelton of Seneca; five grandchildren, Rory Hines and Kyle, Ross, Dustin and Aaron Shelton; two great-grandchildren, Maci and Alexa, with another expected in March; two sisters, Lorraine Neurohr of Ottawa, Ill., and Betty (George) Duvall of Seneca; and one brother, Eugene (Marion) Thompson of Marseilles.

She was preceded in death by one son, Russell; one daughter, Elaine Shelton; and two grandchildren, Janelle and Joshua Shelton.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Seneca.
