Dennis A. Sterritt

MAZON — Mr. Dennis A. Sterritt, 63, of rural Mazon, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 26, 2012, at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born May 8, 1949, in Morris, Dennis was the son of Donald and Janet (Peterson) Sterritt. He graduated from Morris Community High School with the class of 1968. He later attended the University of North Dakota in Fargo.

Dennis was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Bronze Star.

Dennis married “BJ” on June 22, 2007, in Morris.

He was employed as a lock and dam operator for the Army Corp of Engineer at Dresden.

He was a member of the Bros Club, A.B.A.T.E., American Legion Post 294 and John Martin Steel VFW Post 6049.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid rider of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Survivors include his loving wife, “BJ” of Mazon; one son, Shawn of Louisiana,; two sisters, Diane Kjellesvik and Dawn Carey, both of Morris; one brother, Donald Sterritt of Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister-in-law, Betty Sterritt on Aug. 3, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris. Rev. Edward J. Howe, CR, will officiate.

Military honors will be provided by the Morris Color Guard prior to the visitation at 3:30 p.m. outside of the funeral home.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to his family for later distribution to a charity of their choice.
