Mr. James R. Heap, 71, of rural Morris, passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning, Dec. 28, 2012, at his home.
Born July 8, 1941, in Morris, James was the son of Claude and Shirley (Stangland) Heap. He graduated from Morris Community High School with the class of 1959.
James married Janet Higgins on Nov. 9, 1963, at the Coal City Methodist Church. They lived all of their married life in the Minooka and Morris area.
For many years, he farmed in Grundy and Kendall counties. Later, he owned and operated Heap Insurance Agency in Morris.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles No.1024.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janet of Morris; one son, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Heap of Minooka; one daughter, Jill Heap of Chicago; two granddaughters, Nicole and Reese Heap; one brother, Ronald (Janet Crowley) Heap; one sister, Barbara (Duane) Wolfe of Morris; one brother-in-law, Harold Higgins of Morris; and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters-in-law, Susan Heap and Nancy Higgins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Morris. Pastor Steven Heilmann will officiate.
Interment will follow at Sample Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at the Fruland Funeral Home in Morris.
