Succession strategies to be discussed

GWHRA to offer tools to prepare for turnover

JOLIET, Ill. — Tools and strategies to help organizations deal with succession planning will be examined at the Wednesday, Jan. 23, meeting of the Grundy Will Human Resources Association at Joliet Junior College, 1215 Houbolt Rd., Joliet.

Networking begins at 7:30 a.m., with the chapter meeting scheduled for 7:45 a.m.

The one-hour program begins at 8 a.m. and has been approved for one hour of continuing education credit.

The GWHRA meeting and program are open to area human resource professionals and interested members of the business community. There is a $10 fee for non-members. 

In an uncertain economy,  with large numbers of senior people looking at retirement and many younger workers moving between jobs more frequently, succession planning that will help organizations be more effective today and in the future is a vital issue.

In “Succession Planning for Uncertain Times,” Mark Wilson and Lydia Calococci of Dale Carnegie will discuss ways to initiate succession planning to strengthen organizational effectiveness over the long term as well as coaching and mentoring tools and “small win” successes that can give companies an immediate return on investment in employee development.

The Grundy Will HR Association is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
