(MCT) — PONTIAC — Three adults were treated at a Pontiac hospital and then released after a car-semitrailer truck accident Monday night on Interstate 55 near Pontiac, hospital officials said Wednesday.
Taken to OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac, were: semi driver Otis C. Thompson, 50, Country Club Hills; semi passenger Bobby G. Scott Jr., 39, Chicago; car driver Charmane L. Stancil, 24, Bloomington; and a 4-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl who were in Stancil’s car. Another car passenger, Jeremy L. Rodriguez, 25, Chicago, was not hospitalized.
The adults were treated and subsequently released. The conditions of the children were not released.
The semi was southbound on I-55 at milepost 203 about 9 p.m. Monday when it shifted into the left lane to pass disabled vehicles on the shoulder, state police said. The car was passing the semi in the right lane when the truck shifted to the right and struck it, police said.
The truck driver lost control, police said. The truck tipped onto its side, slid across the median and came to rest in the northbound passing lane, police said.
