Mr. George A. Knott, 72, of Morris, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, Jan. 19, 2013, at Morris Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center with his loving family by his side.
Born Feb. 22, 1940, in Ottawa, Ill., George is the son of Joseph and Marie (Gage) Knott. He was educated in the schools of Ottawa, Ill.
With his father, Joe, and the family, they managed the Saratoga Truck Stop in Morris. He then traveled to Texas and was employed as an iron worker for several years. He returned to Morris, where he found employment for more than 20 years with P. T. Ferro Construction Company, retiring in 2002. He then returned to the Phillips 66 filling station on Illinois 47 in Morris.
George was a member of Laborers Local #75 in Joliet, Ill.
His favorite pastime was fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and taking care of his loving companions, his dogs Gabby and Dayzi.
Survivors include his seven loving children, Matthew Knott, Julia Guistat and Paula Rodeghero, all of Morris, Deborah Wills of Marseilles, Ill., Terrance Knott of Huntley, Ill., Laurie Morgan of Huntsville, Texas, and Georgie Knott of Atlanta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Lois Fanti of Ottawa, Ill., and Judy Conrad, Utica, Ill.; one brother, Joe Knott of Decatur, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, until the time of memorial services at U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris. Pastor James Hightshoe will officiate.
Cremation rites were accorded with the Schultz Crematory in Streator, Ill.
Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts in George’s memory directed to the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
