Morris wrestlers lose at Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK — In the annual non-conference matchup between Morris and Bolingbrook on the mats, Wednesday night, the Raiders emerged with a 48-21 to take the traveling trophy.
Morris got wins from Kenny Baldridge at 126 (fall), Justin Barkley at 132 (fall), Nik Countryman at 182 (1-0) and Dalton Ness at 220 (fall) in the contest. Baldridge beat Frankie Rodriguez, Barkley defeated Duane Golden, Countryman bested David O’Pase and Ness Eli Carbajal.
Also wrestling for the Redskins were: Ian Bernard (106), Jake Crowther (113), Jarred Bernard (120), Emmet Chouinard (138), Drake Dryfhout (145), Andrew Olsen (152), Trevor Allbert (160), Brent Johnson (170), Alex Hildy (195) and Anthony Majcen (285).

The Redskins got one second and four thirds in the triangular held at Sterling on Wednesday.
Jordan Ramirez got the second place finish. He wound up with a time of :25.09 in the 50 freestyle.
The 200 medley relay team for Morris was third with a time of 1:54.80. That team consisted of Riley Jackson, Jimmy Meredith, Anthony Ascolani and Ramirez. Meredith was third in the 200 IM (2:23.51), Joey Perez was third in diving (124.80), Jacob MacLean was third in the 500 free (5:36.73) and the 200 free relay team was third in 1:43.94.

MINOOKA — Maria Ruettiger led the Minooka eighth-grade team defensively Tuesday.
Minooka (4-1) suffered its first seventh-grade loss of the season to Shabbona, 25-19, 26-24. Sammie Hermann had 2 kills for Minooka, and top servers were Rachel Stuchly with 4 aces and Jillian Kurtz and Rylee Ritchey with 3.

COAL CITY — Maddie Halliday had 6 kills, 11 points and 4 aces Tuesday for the Coal City (6-2, 1-0) eighth-graders in Illinois Valley Conference play. Kenzie Bugg and Alex Michalak added 3 kills apiece.

MVK def. Elwood
23-25, 25-17, 25-15

ELWOOD — Lauren Chapman served up 17 points and Emily Misener added 10 Tuesday for the Mazon-Verona-Kinsman (2-4) eighth-grade team.
MVK (1-5) lost 25-10, 25-18 in the seventh-grade match despite 5 points from Sara Cahill and 4 from Alexa Novy.

Shabbona def. Saratoga
25-14, 24-26, 15-9

Saratoga (1-7) was led in the IVC eighth-grade tournament match by Katy Smith with 2 kills, 4 points and 3 aces and Jen Smerling with 12 points.
Previously Saratoga lost to ICS 25-20, 25-14 despite five points and four aces from Sam Banuelos
Ahead of that lost to Elwood 25-15, 25-22 despite six points and three aces from Sabrina Baftiri.
