Helen Margaret Humbert

DWIGHT, Ill. — Mrs. Helen Margaret Humbert, 89, of Dwight, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Heritage Health in Dwight, where she had been a resident.

Born Dec. 17, 1923, in rural Gardner, Helen was the daughter of Howard and Eleanor (Christensen) Nelson. She married Harry L. Humbert Jan. 31, 1948, at St. Patrick's Church in Dwight.

Helen was a 1941 graduate of Gardner- South Wilmington High School. She was a homemaker and a great baker.

Helen loved playing cards, the Chicago Cubs and Bulls, and watching and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include five children, Joan Lively of Overland Park, Kansas, Jim (Gloria) Humbert of Dwight, Marvin (Dina) Humbert of Tinley Park, Ill., Glenn of Dwight and Cindy of Dwight; nine grandchildren, Dave Lively of Danville, Calif., Jeff Lively of Overland Park, Kansas, Misty (Jeff) Turner of Joliet, Ill., Brian Humbert of Norfolk, Va., Amy (Chad) Shannon of Morris and Jason Humbert of Spring Hill, Fla., Paul Humbert of Morristown, Tenn., Cara Humbert of Naples, Fla., Amanda Humbert of Naples, Fla.; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlene (Les) Gambee of Howard, Ohio; and one brother, Francis Nelson of Bloomington, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry, who died on Jan. 15, 2000; brother, Donald Nelson; sister, Mary Ann Hiatt; and son-in-law, Ken Lively.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dwight. Her funeral mass will follow at noon with Father James Rickey officiating.

Cremation rites will be accorded following services.

Hager memorial Home in Dwight, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
