The Morris Police Department has arrested a local resident in connection with a November 2012 gas-station burglary.

Ernest A. Pearson, 27, according to Chief Brent Dite, was arrested at  his residence, 416 Lincoln St., on an arrest warrant for burglary, a Class 2 Felony.

Pearson was arrested for burglary following an investigation by Morris Police into a break in at the Phillips 66 in the 1800 block of N. Division Street on Nov. 3, 2012.

Illinois Lottery tickets and cartons of cigarettes were taken.

Many tips were provided by the public after Morris Police released surveillance footage via its Facebook page. These tips lead to Pearson being identified and, ultimately, charged.

The arrest warrant was signed Tuesday, Jan. 22, by Grundy County Judge Robert Marsaglia. Pearson’s bond was set at $30,000 (10 percent to apply).

After his arrest on Tuesday, Pearson was held in lieu of bond in the Grundy County Jail.

The Morris Police Department, along with the Grundy County States Attorney’s Office, were involved in the investigation.
