Lois J. Anderson

STREATOR, Ill. — Mrs. Lois J. Anderson, 78, of Streator, Ill., passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Pleasant View in Ottawa, Ill.

Born Jan. 10, 1935, at home in Grundy County, Lois was the daughter of Peter and Astrid (Anderson) Hausken. Lois graduated from Seneca High School with the class of 1953.

On Jan. 16, 1954, Lois married Earl Anderson at the Stavanger Lutheran Church in rural Seneca. They resided most of their married life in Streator.

Lois was retired from the Streator Elementary School District, where she had worked as a secretary for many years.

She was always a very active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, serving on many committees over the years.

Lois made numerous trips to Norway to visit family over the years. She spent a great deal of time caring for neighbors, working and enjoying family.

Survivors include her sisters, Evelyn Swenhaugen of Seneca, Clara Hauge of Stavanger, Ill., Shirley Seidler of Morris, Helen Baker of Verona and Doris Olson of Jeffersonville, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Elaine Funk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl, who died in December 2005; and her brothers, Earl, Russell, Norman and Orville.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Streator.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Burial will follow the services at Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery in Seneca.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Baker, Matt Baker, Brent Baker, Jon Hauge, Bill James and Arnold Park.

Memorials may be directed to Pleasant View Lutheran Home or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
