Mr. Keith Thackrey, 71, of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., and formerly of Morris, Ill., passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, Feb. 20, 2013, in St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, Mich.
He was born Dec. 5, 1941, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Wilbur and Margaret Bates Thackrey. He graduated from Lincoln-Way High School with the Class of 1960.
In the 1970s, he moved to Morris to make his home and he was a owner and operator of Thackman Trucking Company. In 1987, he opened Boz Hot Dogs on Illinois 47 in Morris.
In 1990, he moved to Mt. Pleasant, Mich., to make his home. He married Boni Wiltse in 1996.
Keith was currently employed with Fisher Material Company in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
When Keith resided in Morris, he was a member of the Morris Lions Club and the Happy Hookers Bass Club. He also served as the parade chairman of the Grundy County Corn Festival.
Surviving is his wife, Boni, of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., and his five children, Cindy and her husband, Tim Harrison, Keith A. and Brett Thackrey, all of Morris, Sara and her husband, Mark O’Dwyer, of Lombard, Ill., and Carrie and her husband, Doug Arnold, of Beloit, Wis. Also surviving are four grandchildren and one brother, David (Julia) Thackrey of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m., and again from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 22, as well as on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Home, 114 S. Bradley, Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Interment will follow in Coomer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
