Robert J. Butz

CHESTER, Ill. — Robert J. “Bob" Butz, 67, of Chester, Ill., and formerly of Morris, Ill., passed away with his loving family by his bedside at his home in Chester on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.

Born April 28, 1947, in the Morris Hospital, he was the son of James  and Barbara Wood Butz. He received his education in the Morris schools and graduated from Morris Community High School with the Class of 1965.

Bob was employed with Caterpillar Inc. in Joliet as a machinist and, upon his retirement, moved to Chester, Ill., to make his home. He was employed part time in Chester with Walmart.

He enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques and working on automobiles. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family who knew and loved him.

Surviving is his mother, Barbara Butz, of Morris; his children, Erik (April) Butz and Kaye Butz of Chester; three grandchildren, James, Ashley and Samantha Butz' two brothers, Richard (Ellen) Butz of Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y., and David (Cathy) Butz of Alexandria, Va.; and one uncle, Glen (Frances) Wood of Marquette Heights, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Patty Day.

The family will receive  friends on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Ambassadors for Christ Church, 702 E. North St., Morris, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of memorial services at 11 a.m.

Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts in Bob’s memory directed to the Ambassadors for Christ Church.

Local arrangements were entrusted with U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.
